Getting to know… Ms. Jennifer
Noah’s Art has a lot of wonderful people who help make it a bright and as colorful as a box of crayons. Jennifer Catoe from our South Park studio is one of them. Here is an interview I did with her to let you know a bit more about her.
What is your history with Noah’s Art?
I’ve been with Noah’s Art 9.5 years. I started out assisting at the Ballantyne location and quickly fell in love with the kids and the program itself. My background is in Early Childhood Education, so the 2 year olds stole my heart! With Noah’s Art looking towards expanding as a company, we opened the South Park location a year later. After managing that studio for a few years, I finally was able to purchase that particular location. I am proud to be a business owner and operator for a great company. We have many years of fun ahead.
As a child, what did you like to draw or paint?
As a child I really loved abstract art and collage making. The more materials the better!
Tell us about a time that you laughed out loud at Noah’s Art?
I laugh everyday at Noah’s Art. Today I laughed (silently) as a student requested to paint on the “weasel.” Just a few days ago another student, a three year old, said to another teacher, “Ms. Jessica – When is Ms. Jennifer going to stop talking?” It is true… I am constantly making conversation with the kids and their parents. The long commute home after work is usually when I’m silent.
What was your first job?
My first job was as a cashier in the concession area of Celebration Station when I was 15. I’ve spent several years working in the restaurant business as well as teaching children.
What is your favorite part about working at Noah’s Art?
My favorite part about working at Noah’s Art is having fun with kids and seeing them grow in self-confidence as they get to be creative in the studio. Getting to teach such a wide age range of students (2-10) allows for a super fun day. I see tons of smiling faces, hear lots of great stories, laugh lots, and get really messy. It’s a great career!
Do you have any pets?
I LOVE dogs! My husband & I have three dogs (children) named Molly (Schnauzer), Emma (Black Lab), and our newest addition Buddy (Beagle.) I would have 101 dogs if I could.
What is your favorite color?
My favorite color is orange because it is so bright and cheery.
What is something interesting about you that most of your students/parents don’t know?
Someday I’d love to be the mother of twins!
70-85% of the world’s population can curl their tongue. Can you?
I’m not sure if I can curl my tongue, but I’m laughing at myself trying!
What is your favorite Noah’s Art class?
Tough question! My favorite class is “Sculpture” because the students get to experiment with so many materials: wire, clay, cardboard, paper mache, and paper. It’s a really fun, hands-on class. The kids have a blast and we get to be relaxed and talk a lot.
Thanks Jen!
You bet.
